What did you create? What did you present in your project?? What did you analyze?
We created a slideshow and analyzed the stylistic features of propaganda/advertisements. We broke down the features of two different advertisements as we analyzed elements like visual narrative, copy, problem/benefit, etc.
Why did you do these activities? Where did you get your inspiration? How did they help you better understand concepts connected to identity, gender, and/or privilege?
We looked to the 1950s for gender stereotype advertisements targeted at appeal to the traditional wealthy and men. We scanned these advertisements we collected from our research and realized how the "housekeeper" gender role of women was exploited in these advertisements to appeal to a man's sense of authority.
How did you do these activities? With whom did you work? What (digital) tools did you use?
I did this project with Fjord and David. We used Google Docs and Slides to conduct research and consolidate our ideas into a graphical presentation. These helped us share findings in an engaging way.
So what? What do you know now that you did not know before? How well do you think you did? What would you do differently next time?
The result of this project was more of a historical anaylitcal finding. We discovered how common these gender norms were within society. I think we did a pretty good job with this assignment and we all contributed equally. I would not change a thing about how we conducted this assignment.
